Compass-Verlag was founded as an address book publisher in Vienna in 1867. As early as in 1995 all business information contained in the book editions was available online. Today approximately 90 employees work for the Compass Group in Vienna.
In 2014 the Compass Group founded the Domain Group to cover the whole supply chain from domain registration to technical operation of a proprietary top-level domain together with its subsidiaries (domainworx – consulting and operation of top-level domains such as .wien; RyCE: backend provider).
The Compass Group additionally uses its know-how in various research projects and passes its experiences on to start-ups as one of the most active Business Angels and early stage investor.
